Whats the best color gravel to bring out there true coloring.

Thanks in advance.

I like black sand in my tanks. I have a mix of black/white sand in my RTC tank, white in my devils tank, and white in my africans tank. When I setup a 125 for a pair of devils it will be black. When I do my 240 it will be black as well.

I have a dark brown colored gravel in my tank and a medium dark blue background and the hood lights are rarely turned on so it's pretty dim in there most of the time but my guys still show their colors nicely.

I use to use deep river. Its a dark gravel but not black. With this and a black back ground on the tank it brings out colors like crazy.

The is probably a more personal opinion sort of question, but i have noticed that black sand + nice lighting and black background = best

but this is strictly my opinion. You should look around at peoples set ups and decide for yourself.

Best of luck.

I would say natural gravel. Compination of darks and lights. I have had pbass in black background/black substrate and they just turn dark, reds and yellows diminish.

All white will fade the colors, so happy medium is a good color combination. Keep in mind lighting is key as well as this also plays a crucial role in colors.
