Hey guys, to start off I will say that I have recently just joined this forum after learning from it for many years. I’m starting my hoplias curupira tank build and will be updating on this thread. I would love for your feedback along the way. To start off - the tank is 125 gallons and I plan on setting it up in a sort of biotope fashion but not really at the same time. I will be using a variety of plants in it and will be trying to make it a riparium. My goal for stock is to keep many smaller fish with it once he gets large such as ember tetras, checkerboard cichlids, and fish of that manor- would love for your suggestions of stock you think could work when it’s big. I will continue to update as the tank progresses and will post photos along the way.

To start off - i currently have just only finished the stand for the tank, I will be getting the tank on it shortly. EC10E59B-40E7-40FC-AE03-1F29136DB4A0.jpeg

Welcome aboard

The Black Wolf may catch one of the small fish but probably will ignore them once Wolf matures. I hope everything goes well.

Yeah, my hope is that once the wolf has attained close to adult size and being well fed, hopefully he would leave most of the small fish alone for the most part. Also getting a large group of nano fish I hope will prevent it from being able to single out any fish, and plants and hardscape breaking lines of sight to help small fish escape when he decides to pounce on them.

Just an idea-

I have seen you are looking at checkerboard cichlids but also look at Apistogramma as they come from the same exact waters. It would be amazing to have some of the harem apistos in the aquarium i.e 1 male and a few females which control sub territories. Their interactions would we very interesting. I don't know if this suggestion would work because apistos natural predators are mostly wolf fish.

Yeah I was thinking checkerboard cichlids since they are exceptionally small, Id be a little worried about Apistos getting eaten since they do get a bit larger. I think I may try a big shoal of pigmy corydoras as well-the goal is to get fish that stay under an inch so they’re as unnoticed as possible.

I was wondering....

But I don't think there is. Let me ask a mod Hendre Hendre

I don't have mod powers here. Forwarded to the staff

Good luck with the build!
