Black worms in substrate?

Will black worms live in the substrate of a planted aquarium for long periods of time. Weeks? Months? I ask because I have see them pop out alive when siphoning after some time of feeding the tank them. Has this happened to anyone?

I put them in my tanks under the substrate so my fish can forage for long periods of time In my tanks ( all planted)..in the warmer tanks they dont do so well for long periods

but in all my unheated tanks they live for.. i dunno until the fish eat the, I have found live worms in my room temp tanks 6 months after the last refresher to the tanks.

Very cool. My tanks at 76 degrees but I may try to slowly get it down to room temp and no heater. I have to reasearch all of my species first. I'm going to start feeding bw more though.because I have a lot of bottom scavengers so it will be good random snacks for them.
