Can anyone tell me the typical growth rate of a Blackbelt cichlid, taking in to the fact of good water parameters, feeding, etc.? I am picking up a 6" Blackbelt tonight. Any photos would be appreciated.

Out of all the Cichlids I've had, they seem to be pretty slow. Individuals can be aggressive, but usually they take a backseat. Nice fish indeed.

They grow rather quickly. I bought mine with my Trimac, Zonatus, Synspilum, and Argentea. They were bought all at 3-3.5"
He grew to 6 by the time the others reached 4.5" over 4 months.
Then he killed my Argentea and Synspilum, He was even hammering on
my male Trimac. Needless to say he was removed. Replaced Syns with a 5" Bifa and have another 5" Argentea on way. Peace has settled since he was removed.
They become quite aggressive

Well I got him last night in trade with my daughter's boyfriend. He is awesome. To my surprise he is way bigger than I though and is pushing 9"-10". My syn which is slightly smaller and does not take any sxxx from any fish was chasing him around the tank most of the night. My other fish were also keeping him in place. So far so good. I will take some pictures tonight and post.

Here is pic of mine it is 6.5" before I pulled him and put him in solitary confinement. I am going to reintroduce him after a month or so.

i saw one once at one of my lfs that was about 12" and they stupidly put it in with an oscar of similar size and it nearly killed the poor oscar by the way this was a male so i dont know if females are as aggressive
