blackbelt in 55?

can i keep a single black belt cichlid ( Cichlasoma maculicauda ) in an empty 55 g tank?

yes you can but that's the absoulte minimum, bigger is always better

seriously though, a 10-12" full grown black belt should be in a 75g minimum imho.

I am going to say yes and it will live nicely in a 55 til the bb gets about 10" and that will take a couple of years so u got plenty of time to upgrade to a bigger tank then i would strongly suggest a 75+ to get the full potential size and beuty of this fish.I know they beat u over the head with this 1 but bigger is always better.lol
