 I know that there's Blacklight-Filters to avoid deseases and such, my question is: Would a Blacklight/UV-Light (UV-fluorescent lamp) have the same effect or would it just make the fishs colors more powerfull? Or would it harm the fish? Reasons why I'm asking it here is cause I wanna have it In my redtail tank, to keep the parasites away :)

if you are referring to an overhead "black-light" vs a store purchased UV sterilizer, then yes, there are many differences.

Black light will make different colors (colours for us who can spell) stand out more, as it's produced entirely different to a UV(sterilizer) bulb, the black light is too dull. UV-sterilizers are a lot stronger in lumans and are enclosed in a box to shorten the wavelengths thus killing any micro-nasties

Also, with reptiles, if you have the UVa and UVb lights, it doesn't travel thru glass, so if it was to sit on your tank, you would have to make sure there were no lids...

If you wanted something to kill the nasties, then buy a UV-sterilizer it can kill most bacteria, as well as helping with green water.

Great....for an outsider like me ;)

UV-C sterilizes the water and is very harmful to living beings, UV-B is blocked by averade windows, but in small doses very important for vitamin-synthesis, and UV-A can also cause dermal irritations...

Taking UV-Lamps overhead illuminating the tank is very bad, sunburn is a very serious problem for fishes.

Sterilizers should only be taken in closed filtration-systems, far away from the fishes.

Back 20 years ago I bought into the UV sterilizer gimmick for my saltwater tanks ......Needless to say its a waste of time and money. Healthy fish can fight off anything a UV light/sterilizer can and more ;)

Keep the fish healthy and you'll never have any problems with parasites.

JMO of course........
