im still working on the scape, i cant decide what i want to do with it. i dont really want to keep putting my hands in the tank due to up rooted plants although i do like the look. i might just add some more wood.

i had kept RBP's for years and absolutely loved them and still do. i got out of the hobby for a few years and just recently (about 7 or 8 months ago) got back in. i started with 8 juvy reds and raised them to about 4-5". i wont say i got bored with them because they were pretty awesome! but i did feel like to enjoy the hobby as much as i used to, i needed a change. i wanted to have a large solo fish that had that wow factor when people walked into the room and realized it was a piranha. i sold the reds and found someone that could ship me a Serrasalmus rhombeus. i have never had fish shipped to me but living in a relatively small town in BC it was my only option. hes been in the tank for about 5 days and is not shy of people or food at all. he's also showing some nice aggression. all these pictures are taken with my crappy cell phone, so they really do the fish no justice.

here's my old reds, i will miss them.

and the new addition.

Wow. I love your setup. And all those piranhas look amazing. Gotta love the evil red eyes on him.

thanks! yeah i love his eyes, they look pretty sinister. any way to edit my thread title? kind of butchered it.

wow! i was wondering who bought that rhom! i saw it in his store a month or so after he got it in. you are one lucky man.

thank you, apparently he was for someone that never got his tank ready. his loss my gain. he's from the rio tocantins. and i am very happy with him so far. chasing fingers on the 5th day, lots of personality!

EDIT: man you are super lucky to have them as your LFS. i would have one badass piranha collection if i lived in winterpeg. he actually travels around the world to the areas that he gets from, so if he says they are from the rio tocantin i wouldnt doubt it.

Haha I just realized it existed this past summer. I picked up a young serrasalmus maculatus from the Rio Tocantins from there 2 weeks ago. It was mislabeled as S. Gibbus but I dont care. If I had the space I'd have a huge shoal but right now Im happy with my little guy.

Jealous of that rhom man. Update often.

wow your mac has nice color!

i didnt realize they fed live fish to all their p's. they did say he would eat anything dead or alive, not picky at all. my guy ate tilapia fillet the second day i had him. iv got some new life spectrum 3mm sinking pellets left over from my reds. i want to try and cycle the pellets into his diet.

Thanks my guy is on tilapia primarily though he's eating pickerel cheeks and shell on shrimp too. Doesnt eat very aggressively though. I'm gonna try to get him to take krill so I can maintain the colour. Also gonna stuff pellets into the fillet.

I'd like to know if your rhom develops a chimple over time. My mac has a little one now.
