I've used these in all of my tanks that need heaters. The Tetra Submersible heater, 200 watt. I only had FW tanks, until around last Christmas. When I bought the dragon goby at lfs, not realizing it was a brackish fish. Anyway - got much needed advise here, and dragon goby is doing fine now.:D My problem/concern is that the black paint on the heater is coming off! When I clean of the inside of the tank I use a large all-plastic brush to get the sand off of the heater. The goby likes to re-arrange it's sand castles and caves, it's tail really kicks up a sand storm! So now I noticed some large (about 1/2 cm) pieces of black paint floating in there, and more came off when I was cleaning! I managed to net the larger pcs.:( I'm worried, since it's a sifter-eater, that it might damage its' gills? I don't have a spare/different heater for that tank either. WHID?

that paint stuff came off on mine as well, and i started seeing moisture inside the glass enclosure. I'd suggest trashing it and getting something better.

Like what kind/brand? The tank is 40 gl., 36 x 18 x 17. But I'm a 75 gl. soon from a friend. So what would you think for wattage also? I'm trying to decide if 2 heaters instead of just one, would be a better idea in the larger tank? And I apologize for sounding pompous on the other issue of the pikerel fish. It's just that it seems as though there are a few ppl that own 'illegals', on this site. Got grinched by the auto-bot, again......I don't realize that I'm saying something wrong! I DID read the rules before I joined. (Guess I'm having brain problems! ADD with Alzheimers I think, no not joking.)

Heard about the Stealth recall too. So I could use some advice on whether I should get 1 or 2 heaters, and how much wattage each? BTW, I've 2 of the Aqueon Quietflow, Fourstage filters on tank right now. They say '200 GPH'. Is that good enough?, as long as parameters are alright? I'm still a noob at this, would appreciate any sincere help!
