I have a 180 gal tank that I would like to have a more blackwater appeal about it. I am planning to use peat in the filter(FluvalFX5). Can anybody point me in the right direction on how much peat to add per gallon and at what intervals as I want my pH to drop slowly and I dont want it bouncing around all over the place.
Incidently is peat the right way to go?
Also my water out of the tap is about pH7.6-7.9, after a water change do I need to add extra peat? Does peat need treating before it is added?
