bladder snails

Bladder snails (Physella acuta) eat mulm (algae and debris) and should be fine in a planted tank. Just keep some space at the surface since they're an air-breathing species. Also keep a good top on the tank to restrict this species from traveling.

BTW, if your snails show up with unmottled shells, you've likely received pond snails. Don't put these in your planted tank. There are some reputable bladder snail dealers on aquabid.
