I just got a 145gal tank and not sure witch way I should go with it hope you guys can help be decide I know ima have an aro and a JD in it
1)filter (JOB/ canister )
2) sand,gravel,or just paint it
3) other fish

So much potential and you choose a Jack Dempsey and an Arowana lol... I would say paint the back black and add some sand. I would say get a nice circulation pump. You will probably want to do canister. One 300w heater should do fine if you have the right circulation.

If you have a heavier sand like pool filter sand then you should be able to find a way to position them so they don't blow it all over, might take some trial and error to get it right though.
 
I like large river rocks. But white sand or brown sand is allways catching. For the background I would again no one seems to take this idea, use CAR WINDOW TINT. It is NOT permanent. Looks good, is clean, water doesnt mess it up. Just so many good things about it. (if you want a black background lol) For filter I would Just throw on a FX5 s 400 watt heater for heating. Fish Ive allways wanted to do a 125 gallon little guy tank. With TONS of neons and ram cichlids and any other cool little fish.
