Hi

I moved my bleheri from my small 5g tank to mig 120 about two weeks ago and it hasen't eaten since.. Have tried both frozen shrimp and bloodworms which it grew up on

The rest of the fish are doing fine and eating like crazy. The temp is about 27 degrees (80.7 F) since my appartment is that warm now during the summer. I moved him back into the 5g and put some cold water in so I'm hoping he'll eat soon sinece his really skinny

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks

my bleheri was around 27c-28c when i first house it and it stay around that temperature for 1-2 weeks.. he's fine still eating greedily(maybe because they adapt our tropical weather since LFS keep them in those temperature.. but now i lower the temperature to 23c and try to keep lowerin until 20c..

is there big gap of temperature between the tanks? or can u tell us what fish in the 120? any pics?

in the 120 there's a 9" TT eel, two baby Oscars, tree baby gibbi, 4 baby Hoplo + 1 adult, 1 Ancistrus and two african butterfly fish. Theres only 1 Bleheri since his mate got killed a long time ago

The 5g was about 25 degrees this morning but the wether is growing colder so it might decreese in the following days. He still haden't eaten this morning

When I moved him to the 120g I had no net, so I lured him into a jar with a shrimp in it.. Can fish become traumatized?

Hi,I dont think that what you stated can be the reasons to your bleheri not eating,my bleheris tank temperture is 22-26 this period.

Bleheris prefer colder temps, they do best in speciestanks. They require odd climates which does suit best for speciestanks.
And it's pretty hot in Sweden right now, so the tank waters are pretty much hot at the moment.
My older snakeheads use to do the same thing as yours at the summers when the water was too hot. So my trick was that I used to make the water a little bit colder, and it worked. Within a couple of days, the snakeheads started to eat :D !

oh, Ill try that. But Ill have to change water ever hour or so to keep it cold?

I put two guppies in today, so when they are gone, he's probably fine

Hi,

oscars and other big stuff is not a good company for such a small channa. Moving tanks is another stress factor. I woould keep him alone or try to find other bleheri as comrades.

Cheers

My trick with hotter temps. that I just cant seem too keep cool is freeze a few small pop bottles with water.. have them float on the surface of the tank, with the lights off.

I noticed that when the temp outside skyrocketed so did the tank.. I drained in lowered the tank so it was closer to the floor and added the frozen water.. my bleheri tank is kept at about 23-25 degrees.
