Is it just me or does anybody else wonder why RTC have eyes? My TSNxRTC hybrid finds all the floating pellets perfectly fine even w/o his whiskers. But when the RTC comes up, he can't even find the pellets directly in front of his mouth and head, like a 3x3 inch cluster of pellets together, he can't see them! But once his whiskers just BARELY touch up against it, he just flips out and vacuums. Anybody have this type of RTC? Lol

Sounds similar to bichirs I have had, they will ignore it unless their nose tells them it's food

Some animals like birds and many fish have the eyes on the sides of their heads. The fields of vision of the eyes never overlap. They have only peripheral front and back vision and at 90 degrees they almost don't see, I'd imagine, just like us. You can see that often in koi: they come up to a floating pellet but well short of it and start sucking and often they are too far so it takes a while for them to get the pellet in their mouths.

The advantage is that their field of vision far exceeds that of say humans and primates - it spans almost 360 degrees. The latter, however, use both eyes to focus on an object in front of them and hence can estimate the distance to that object far better then those animals that use one eye and/or peripheral vision.

This is general. It does not explain well why your TSNxRTC hybrid is better than RTC. Something else is at play here.
