Hello everyone,
I have a colony of 7 Frontosa and the last few weeks I have noticed that my sub-dominant male seems to have gone blind.
He stays in one spot of the aquarium and does not interact with the other fish, nor does he react when I put my hand or net near him. During feeding time he blindly goes after what might be pellets.(I have resorted to trying my best to feed him by dropping pellets right near his mouth).
However his eyes do not show the same symptoms of blindness(no missing or damage that I can see, and no cloudiness) and he is the only fish that is affected.
I wonder if it would be best for me to euthanize him because his quality of life is steadily declining. I don’t have a QT tank anymore because I’ve kind of fallen out of the hobby and just keep these guys around. He is about 8 years old or so and I don’t want him to suffer.
Parameters for the tank are good, no ammonia or nitrites and about 25 nitrate. 200 gallon with just the 7 Frontosa. I feed NLS Thera A pellets and occasionally blood worms or shrimp.
Thank you.
