Any know why my black diamond rays white spots turn a bit yellow or tan? My water parameters are good. I read somewhere that if you turn on you lights too much, it will turn a little yellow/tan

I don't think lights play any part
Some bd spots are whiter than others

when i first got it, it was completely white. now its somewhat tan looking... main diet is carnivour pellets and occasional shrimp..
i thought maybe my water parameters were no good. its very active and always begging for food

I know some Asian breeders that don't feed pellets because they say it makes spots less white. Not confirmed and maybe BS but they swear by it.

The food you feed it may be the reason. Massivore and shrimp have carrotiene red color pigments causing the white spots to change in color

They don't feed pellets because feeders and MP are so cheap

The use the pellets turning the spots yellow as a excuse for not feeding pellets

If this was the case then a high percentage of our black rays would have yellow spots as pellets are used a lot more outside of Asia

In the past I notice the more light I give them, the whiter the spot gets.

Mine changes with his mood it seems. Sometimes they are pure white. Other times they have a tan edging. My bdxpearl has 95% tan spotting. Pureness of the genes could be more of a factor then anything else.
