Well to start off if you have seen my millions of threads about this 55 i am setting up.

Well I was thinking of stocking with Pseudotropheus saulosi and Labidochromis caeruleus! But while researching i found that Pseudotropheus saulosi are not to be housed with yellow or blue fish (due i guess to confusion of species) so what is your take on this?
Would it be ok?
How many of each species do you think i should start with?

And what is the limit for crude protein their staple should be?

Thanks

And please answer all the questions because i want to pick them up soon!

I think these two species will be fine together. In a 55 you could go with 7 labs (sex doesn't usually matter with these) and 10 Salousi (2m and 8f). I have never kept Salousi before, so someone may have better advice on the amount and m to f ratio.

As their staple get some New Life Spectrum and feed them frozen brine shrimp once a week, and you will have some happy fish!

with those amounts would i be able to levea some babies to live and grow?

Any fry left in the tank will become snacks. If you want to raise fry, get a 10 gallon tank, and when you get a holding female, remove her from the 55 and put her in the 10 until she spits.

Also, I think the main reason for the suggestion of not putting in yellow colored fish with Salousi is to avoid cross-breading. If you go with that many Salousi females, I don't think you will have this problem.

i dont think corssbreeding would be possible! but i have an empty long 20 that i was thinking of using for that exact reason!

Of course it is, why wouldn't it be?

Anyway, the two should be fine together. A lab female is not too likely to breed with a blue male saulosi anyway, and they shouldn't have any problems getting along.
