First post on here! I have a catfish (bonus points if you can identify species). Recently I noticed he has a bloated belly, he used to be skinny a couple days ago. He eats shrimp pellets and is still very lively. Is he eating gravel? Constipated? Any other ideas? First ever tank and I got it a month and a half ago. Mixed community tank 100 gallons. Nitrates are a little high along with phosphate. All else is good.199F2B6A-9FAC-45A5-B7C1-CE5F47CCAB55.jpegF06DB8D7-0F2D-4A9F-89AE-ACB82D27493C.png

Does he have trouble swimming or staying grounded? any other adverse effects? You’re sure he isn’t just eating a lot at feedings?

He swims just fine, no other effects so far but I just noticed the issue today. He gobbles up a lot when feeding so maybe he’s just fat. I’m not very confident with knowing how much feed to drip in. I mix shrimp pellots, floating cichlid pellots, and some flakes. Feed once a day.

Catfish blimp up easy he may just enjoy what you’re feeding! Here’s my rtc during a feeding for example. If he’s acting ok just check before your next feeding and see ?5A5FAA5E-1CAB-4CD5-8C7F-2E567038A592.jpeg

Probably just over eating. Try reduce the amount of feeding days. It’ll help to let the catfish get it’s belly down in between meals. I’d just watch it for now. Hold of on feeding and watch for reduction in the size of it’s belly.
