Hi, so this morning I found my fire eel out in the open belly up and it looked like he swallowed a marble. The lump is in the middle of his body and seems to be buoyant. I put him in a hospital tank and he just can't seem to sink he is just thrashing all over. So do I just have to wait it out until he goes to the bathroom or do I need to give him a fish laxative or something?

Try to get him in a quarantine tank and add some Epsom salts 1tbsp per gallon. Cross ur fingers. Don't feed for now.

Ok....got to wait and hope it'll pass the marble. It might be difficult to pass it though so hope it's just bad constipation or something else.

Hope it passes okay, for both of your sakes. I know it must be stressful to see him like that.

Your was suffering from an internal bacterial infection, the by product of bacteria is gas. Major infections will result in a gas bubble.....Often a internal bacterial ulcer in the intestine would result in what you are describing.
