Bloating or spawning?

He started swimming around again this afternoon and the bulge seems a bit flatter.

What dosage of epsom salt do you recommend?

Just an update. The bulge seems to have flatten on the left side. Appetite isn't quite there yet but he is more active overall. Trying out api general cure

Some not-so-good update:

An aquarist friend came to visit me today and identified hole-in-the-head disease. I don't know how I missed that...
I have no idea what stage it is. Ideas?

So the angelfish passed away. It was in the quarantine tank for like a month being treated with epsom salt. I thought it was doing better even though it wasn't eating. then I decided to gamble an relocate it in another community tank and all seemed well for a night and a day. when I came back home from work I found him upside down but still alive. back to the quarantine tank and there it just spiraled... wouldn't keep upright, fins started to rot overnight and near the end some fuzzy fungus appeared on the side of its body. just seemed like everything that could go wrong for him went wrong. saddened by its death as it was the first fish I actually bought when i started this hobby but kinda glad it's not suffering anymore. so in memoriam of this little bud, here's a picture from not so long ago
