Im new here but not to fish keeping. Have had fish off and on since I was a kid. This is my first puffer though, was searching for something to put in my 55G that I set up in my apt when my exgf kicked me out. I was looking for 1 larger specimen vs several smaller ones. After searching and learning for about a month I decided I would go with a Fahaka and upgrade my tank size ASAP. When I got him he was around 2.5-3 inch and had IP's. After having him for close to 2 months now(seems a lot longer though) he is up to about 4-4.5 inchs and fat. Ok now on to a few pics of him

The pic I was sent by the fish store(had to have him shipped since I could find one local)

This one is from the day he got here. Just after attacking a ghost shrimp that was in the tank.

The day I realized I finally beat the IPs, this was after going over 24 hours with out eating and he still had a nice little belly

Wow he has changed a lot since you got him. He looks about a million time better in the last pic.

Oh he also had 3 oto's in with him but he found 2 of them nothing more then a snack. He hadnt messed with the chinese algae eater that was in the tank, removed it due to its possiblity to be aggresive

I see you already have some plants and substrate in your tank, so maybe try adding some driftwood and a cave for your fellow and he should be extremely happy... and i'm guessing since you did your research and mentioned you were getting a bigger tank, the new home is at least 125G+???

Anyway, welcome to MFK and hope you enjoy your newish puffer, btw, how big is he now???

the tank he is in now has rock and driftwood already in it, with plunty of hiding places.

His new home is about 115g with a 51"x22" footprint.

Bloats new tank is up, just waiting for a filter. But here is what it looks like right now
