So here soon we are planning on moving and I want to build a huge tank in the basement of our next house. I have been tossing around some ideas on how I want to do this and I keep ending up back at using block grouted full, with rebar in it fastening the rebar into the existing concrete floor. My thoughts were to seal with something, haven't researched it yet and for the background use concrete to make a 3-D effect of the amazon. I have read some that portable water tank paint is aquarium safe so I am guessing that is what I can use on the background, as far as a sealer I am not sure? Maybe block filler or some kind of rollable rubber lining? Suggestions there would help, and as far as glass ( sheet, or tempered) and thicknesses, or acrylic. Ad fastening the glass in is another hurdle I have thought about but have nothing set in stone. As far as filtration I am planning on using sock filters (I have access to anything from 10 micron to 200 micron) haven't research what micron yet, with a automatic top off system with possibly a solar heat source, all suggestions would help with my design of this! Planning on starting build in fall of 2013, as long as we find a house by then of course. I understand it is going to take some cash to do this and please keep that in mind when u offer opinions. I am open to all options as long as I won't have to get a loan to make them happen!!!!!!!!!!
