hi everyone! im a newbie to this forum, so ill make this nice and short and give you a brief description on my tank ect...
i started with a single veil tail oscar (beautiful) and then one day my partner came home with a blood parrot, but to my own suprise i kinda liked the little hybrid.
The oscar took to it quite well, so i agreed for the time being to get another with the intention of getting a tank for them in the early new year.
Again the oscar was fine, then i came across kirin parrots, and i have to admit, i was overly intrigued and ordered one. my oscar turned (having killed quite a few tankmates here and there in the past, and still being a juvi)
so i rehomed the oscar and now im stuck with the parrots and the kirin.
well now for my question....
how many blood parrots/Kirin parrots in a 83 gallon??
do they like loads of plants?? i know they like caves ect....
thanks guys

your Oscar probably killed tankmates because with that size tank he would have wanted the space to himself, generally if given enough room an oscar is not aggressive and im not sure about these hybrids as i dont keep them you might have better luck posting in the hybrid section

well, i know you can keep 2 oscars in a 75 gallon so a blood parrot wasnt a problem, i have never overcrowed my tanks.......

i am also a admin of a oscar forum, but decided to join this as i no longer have a oscar. please dont lecture a long time oscar keeper. its like telling your granny how to suck eggs, iv kept oscar's and synsplium and green terrors (among others) for 15 years.... your barking up the wrong tree....

i am new to hybrids and thats where my advice lies.

thanks, will re-post in the hybrids.

well excuse me! personally i would only keep an O in a 75 by himself but whatever people will do as they wish and i was merely stating a possible reason for his aggression there is no reason to have an attitude, there was no way for anyone to know what kinds of fish you keep or in what conditions from that post so you need to chill

2 oscars in a 75 can be done, but surely is not ideal, oscar forum or not. However, as to how many parrots for the tank, I would only house one, maybe 2 as a permanent home, I've seen some that are rather large.

thanks for that :-)

yes i garee its not ideal, but as a parrot is smaller i felt at the time it would be ok....

anyways, i no longer have a oscar, so thats not an issue..

thanks for everyones input... sorry for any offensive, iv seen so many overcrowded tanks, and get quite angry when i know mines not (as im sure you two would aswell)

thanks guys

I've seen some parrots that are pretty large though, pretty close to oscar size, and considering their odd genetics, might be variable as to adult size
