I'm really worried about my Blood Parrot.
Yesterday, there was a huge blackish bruise on the top part of its head.
And I just thought that it bumped its head or something.
But today that whole patch has turned fleshy and white and I saw the scales floating around at the bottom
And it has some small patches around its body the colour of dark blood along with some white patches.
I'm wondering if it's ICH but the websites I have been reading about it are very vague.
So if you have any idea what disease it is or how to treat it, PLEASE I'm all ears.
Also, I had my Blood Parrot in a salt solution yesterday because I heard that it is good for treating disease?
So if you have any advice, PLEASE HELP MY PARROT!

It's fungus. Do a water change on tank, as it usually occurs when water isn't at its "crispiness".

To treat, you can usually use any fungus medication at Petco/Petsmart. Try to treat BP in a hospital tank, as medication will probably affect your Beneficial bacteria in your filter.

There's also a harsher treatment that I use for koi. Buy Potassium Permanganate from Lowes or Home Depot (usually called pool cleaner, found in plumbing) make a paste and put directly on fungus (make sure to wear gloves, as PP is a carcinogen). Place BP back into tank. The PP will directly oxidize the fungus ad surrounding tissue (healthy and dead tissue). Like i said, it's harsher method, but will work first try.

Good luck and keep us updated. :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

Sorry, I read that it is actually a bacterial infection.

However, the fungus treatments should still work.

Another treatment is to do a "salt-bath". Add about 4 tablespoons of aquarium-salt to 1 gallon of tank-water (3% by weight, salt concentration). Mix thoroughly and allow to dissolve. Place fish into solution for 30 seconds. Watch the fish at all times while in the bath. Remove from bath and place back into tank. Again, this is also a treatment I've used for my koi to fight bacterial and fungus infections.

Good luck!!!!! :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
