Blood parrot fertility.

Someone locally is selling some of his blood parrots. He has 30. In the picture some look like they may be died and some not. They say they bought them all but need to sell some.

I was wondering if I bought 5 what are the odds I would get a fertile female? I used to have a female bp but sold her since she was too shy for my tank.

Female bp are almost always fertile, it's the males that are rarely (if ever) fertile.

So if I bought 5 do you think I would a have a fairly decent chance at getting at least 1 female?

If you study up how to vent them they look big enough maybe.

Females usually have shorter dorsal & anal fins, if you pick the ones with blunt/rounded dorsal/anal fins you should have a very good chance of getting some females.
