I got my smaller BP about a month ago. He was a a pinkish colour- like convict pink. Then once in my tank for a week he went gorgeous orange. Now he is turning black- it started in his tail and is coming up his back. Will he stay this way or lose the black?? I kind of like it.

As well as pellets, veggies & flake, he eats alot of frozen meaty foods. Could this be the reason he keeps changing colour??

my bp's went through the same thing the black will go away when the stress is gone i even went to my lfs to ask them about it.....and of course i got "what are you talking about, did you see if it would rub off?"...LOL

Maybe if you add a dense plant background, it will help reduce the stress.

It worked for my BP. He was terrified and faded when I had a solid reflective-blue background. When I switched to a plant background, we was out and about within an hour. He has maintained a nice orange-red color for months now.

I feed him NLS, Veggie flakes, and frozen blood worms.
