Ok well i have a 60 gallon tank that has a blood parrot and a senegalus bichir in it.

well to my suprise saturday i looked for the blood parrot to find that she had laid eggs and was very protective.

well i called my LFS to see if they knew anything about it and they said the blood parrots were sterile?

my question is, is this true? is there any cichlid i can cross with my female blood parrot to breed?

second question what would be your sugestions for tankmates for my senegalus and blood parrot? i was thinking some geophagus, but which ones?

Males are sterile, females are fertile. I'm guessing the list of possible male companions is long, since mine spawns with my red snook.... You could put about any geos with them. I've got mine with a leucosticta and a red hump (along with many other non-geos).

to my knowledge there are parrots that are males and fertile but they do something to them to get them that way for breeding purposes i have a few egg layers myself you can cross with a variety of fish including red devil, flowerhorns even convicts
