blood parrot turning white gasping for air

one of my blood parrots is turning white and hanging out at the top of tank looks like he is gasping for air rest of tank is ok any thoughts
 
Yep, that's about it. Sorry for your impending loss by the way. Death is the final chapter in the cycle of life and it can't be avoided sometimes. If the others are doing fine and the water tests ok, then it is likely just his time. :(
 
well he realy isn't that old and i just can't buy the fact it's his time but stranger things have happened
 
Hey I hope your BP is still living....
I would check into the amount of oxygen in your water...
Try installing an airstone and lowering the water level from the hood for better gas exchange.
If the water temp seems high lower it a few degrees and your BP should start to chill, maybe add some aquarium salt for better gill function.

Last BP I had was doing the same thing, all the outher fish seemed fine. As soon as I put in an airstone, He was fine.
 
well he did fine for a couple of days lost him last night . he was in a 55 with one other some cats eels silver dollars bala's tetra's i have a fluval filter that i use for a particle filter with an air pump hooked up to it ;i do water changes every week to week and 1/2
