Blood parrot x Convict.

I would like to breed my parrot to a convict. My female parrot has laid eggs before but with out any male. I would like to breeder with a convict. She is 3.5-4". I do not have a convict yet. What is the best way to pair them? And what size should the con be.

Find a male larger than the female Parrot.

Ok. How much. I was just scared the con my be aggressive and beat her up. Btw it's a 50 gal tank. This is it.

Around an inch or so bigger than her at least. From personal experience and from what I have heard females rarely pair with a male smaller than themselves. If you get an aggressive male you could try a different one or try using a divider to get them used to each other.

Ok. I've got dividers from my flowerhorns that I can use. So just introduce them and watch them for 20 mins to see what happens?

Yeah keep an eye on them for a bit, and its good that the tank is currently her rather than the other way around.

Does black convict vs pink convict affect any fry outcomes?

Yes, you want to a pink convict so the color of the offspring will be solid pink like the male pink convict. If you use a black convict the offspring will be striped but in my personal experience the pink ones look better.I did the pairing 2years ago and raised them for a year and loved the outcome they are called jellybean cichlids, look them up on a yahoo search engine and u will see.
