Blood Parrot

Like oscar said, many BP females are fertile. I don't think there is an exact formula for BPs, but I've heard that they've got severum and red devil blood.

So I could put them together (Bp and gold sev)
in there own tank and see what happens?

What are they a cross of exactly?
It would be interesting to see what happens.
Their exact ingrediants are unknown (to me anyway). But as the wise druu said: sev and rd are prime suspects. Good luck, let me know.

Yeah blood parrots are very mystery hybrids with mystery parents. Flowerhorn..eh not so mystery. I have no idea what the actual species they start with to get blood parrot but sounds like their parents are very distinct related to each other resulted in the male blood parrot being sterile.

Actually most FH's are pretty much a mystery. Most breeders won't tell you exactly what's in a strain for fear of duplicating. We can guess that older strains are midas/trimac based but some of the newer strains are very much questionable and using different fish. Not that it would be easy to duplicate a strain because they're breeding the absolute best looking of each species to make a FH. Sometimes cross breeding 4 different fish.

actually on here someone recently made some parrots. the mix did not contain any severum. based on my research parrots can only be made if the syn carries a certain mutated gene. not all syns have it apparently.

we have tried sev crosses and never had any luck yet. i do wish you good luck on your attempts with the sev X parrot.

as for the fert question. yes the males usually are infertile. however females are usually very fertile.
