This question may be stupid... but I figured I would ask since i hadn't ever run into the problem before.

Can a blood parrot female lay eggs without a male present? If so, what should I do with said eggs to make her calm down. >_<. She hasn't been eatting well and is really really defensive of the tank.(though the other fish are okay if they stay away from her area.) but if i reach in the tank(even before there were eggs) she will attack my hand like crazy.

They're infertile if she's all alone, and yeah, cichlids (I'm familiar with Oscars and Angles) do it often. You can just remove them with a siphon if they're making her crazy, or, if there's a pleco in the tank, they'll be a nutritious snack for him.

What other fish do you have in the tank blood parrots breed with a lot of other nw ciclids.

The only other 3 fish in the tank are Africans.

I am considering trying to find a suitable mate for the parrot, what would be a decent fish for this?

edit: and I assume her color will go back to normal(was a very stressed light color) and she will calm down with the eggs out, correct?

would like a Severum be able to reproduce with the Blood Parrot?

After some research, I have decided they can't =P

What can a Blood Parrot breed with? =P

I wouldn't bother breeding it with anything, the resulting offspring would be worthless.

Blood parrots will breed with convicts, i have done this. I have also bred them with flowerhorns. I hear the will breed with midas , red devil etc.

My BP lays eggs all the time, but they get eaten within a few hours by the other fish.
I think it would be possible to a sev to breed with a BP as they are said to be on the fish used to created this hybid.
