I know it sounds crazy but I have two blood parrots and they laid eggs!! I know are hybrids and shouldnt technically be fertile but they are defending their eggs like crazy. I even have video of them attacking my hand. I also have two gold severums in there so I thought maybe they bred with them but I would think one of the severums would be attacking me not both parrots. let me know what you think and ill post up that vid later tonight.

They will do their job but the eggs won't hatch. Like you said the male is sterile so nothing will come out from the male to hatch the eggs. But you can try the female with convicts though.

You could be a bit optimistic..
There had been some reported successful breeding of blood parrots. But its quite rare..

keep us posted. wheres the video?

When you say blood parrots, do you mean some usual parrot fish that have been injected with some nasty tattoo style dye to make them look some mad colour? if so you may find the baby fish are somewhat drab to the synthetic unnatural colour of your 'blood parrots'. You should not buy dyed fish.

you need to be sure about common names before going off on a rant for someone. "blood parrot" is the common name for the parrot fish hybrids. the term "blood" has nothing to do with them being dyed. the dyed parrots are usually called either "tattoo parrots" or "jellybean parrots" or whatever term may be used locally.

more than likely they wont hatch. my bp's been breeding for 2 years almost monthly, no babies.

Mine too, it becomes really irritating because the female is extremely aggressive to everyone else, only when their breeding..and they mess up the whole tank also..:irked:
