I have been reading up on them alot lately I love the size and looks of them... I was wondering if anybody had any personal experience with them?

I had one of these for a few months once. Biggest problem ever. It was a baby and it refused to eat. I sold it for more then what I payed for it and the guy said he was doing great. I don't know, I never had a problem with any of my other snakes like I did with this one.

Hmmm interesting... I know that they can be a bit snappy but I hear that since they have started so many captive breeding projects that the temperments have changed alot. I am curious about what z trip has to say though... what other kind of problems did you have?

Well when I first go the snake it was rather shy. This was fine, but it was to a point that it was scared of food. The beat and numidity where fine, the cage was fine. I don't understand it's problem. In like 4 months it might have eaten 4 times. It was captive bred and I purchased it from the breeder. Better luck nex time I guess.

Bloods, Borneos, Short-tail Pythons... What ever you call them, are some of the best pet snakes you can have, especially if you are looking for large snakes. I have had nearly a hundred of them in the past 20 odd years. The secret is time and patience. They are not large Ball Pythons and not as gregarious as Burms. or Retics. Pick out a nice captive baby and let it settle in. I usually us a nice bark mulch type substrate that is deep enough for the critter to hunker down in. When it come to offering food, try small meals just after the lights go out and be prepared to remove it if you see the baby get agitated. Bloods usually do not respond well to "tease" feeding. As they gain security and "learn" the routine they begin to mellow and will take to some short handling sessions. Depending on the animal and your patience, this time can gradually be extended. Some of my animals were as tame as some of my Ball Pythons but those are generally my larger animals in excess of 5ft. However, I will admit, these are hands down my favorite group of snakes so I am biased. There is something cool about having a snake that is only about 7ft but as big around as your thigh. Big snake in a little package.

P.S. - My oldest animals are a pair of Borneos that are about 16 years old.

wow i think ur the only person i know that says they nice lol.

i love them and they r stunning! but all i ever seem to see is aggressive ones.
dont get wrong iv got the time and patience (iv got a bosc who was badly treated and even hes coming round) but even people who put their lives in to it still seem to have evil ones lol.

could b anything i spose. i mean my burm hates men, could b that kinda thing maybe?
god knows, im just rambleling now lol

I swear I am not alone. I have a friend that actually uses some, including one of the babies my animals produced, in educational programs for kids. He likes them because they are very deliberate and look like big snakes but he can easily control both ends.
