Blood red parrot cichlid has black patches !

My blood red parrot cichlid has these strange black patches on his face !

They are newly accuired marks i just hop it's nothing to do with my filter been SHAGGED !!!

Here's a pic not the best but notice the gill plate he also has the patches on the front of his face !



He's only just got these marks over the past day or so !

Should i be worried ?

I think just like bunch of other Cichlids they change colors as they get older. It is not a big deal and is just part of growing. They will either go away or he may even turn a different color.. No big deal.

As mentioned above...however, for your peace of mind, I'd keep an eye on those spots. It could be black spot disease.

I've never seen black spots on a blood parrot before. use the macro (flower) option on your camera and best to go back a few more inches from your tank to focus on the fish.
