is it good or bad to feed blood worms to my jack dempseys. I was just wondering cuz i have a violet goby with them that eats blood worms and the jd's will always eat some of them.

i was told that some cichlids dont do good with them, something about them infections from it, my jd's are also a hybrid, there mixed with a texas cichlid. i have noticed that in the past 5 days since they been eating blood worms there colors have started to change real fast, there still young, both under 2 inches.

I only use frozen blood worms. I wouldn't feed them to my Africans, but CA's are fine. I have read they cause a condition called Malawi Bloat in some African Cichlids, but not in Central Americans. I believe the theory has to do with Mbuna's digestive track.

Thats all I use for all my fish as a daily treat!

i feed mine 4 cubes of frozen every day also live once a week this is on top of the flake

Krill in the morning (bichir, etc)
Tubifex in the morning (Gouramis, balas)
Tubifex at night (Gouramis, balas)
6 frozen cubes of bw at nighttime (everybody)

bit off what
