Hello, I have an aquarium and last water change I sucked up quite a few small worms. this water change their where more and I believe they are Blood worms. It took me a few minutes to figure out where they came from but then I realized hat I had Hyacinths in their during the colder weather for a few days.

Are these guys gonna bother anybody. 2 of my Skunk loaches died I had no clue on why other then high nitrates.

Any advice?

Thanks

You think there are live bloodworms living in your tank?

Yes they are alive, they move when I suck them up.

I'm surprised the fish don't eat them. Generally they are perfectly happy to gobble up frozen or freeze-dried versions.

In the tank their is:

7 Silver Dollars
1 Green Terror
1 Green Severum
1 Stripped Torpedo Fish(I can't remeber the name but thats what it looks like)
1 Walking Catfish
1 Clown Pleco

Soon to come, 3 kissing gouramies. The tank is a 85G and none of the fish take interest in the worms. The catfish might but its pretty large to mess with such small prey thats under the gravel.

Mosquito larvae?? Have mosquitos in your house?

Well, next I do a water change I will net and take a few pictures for you. They are black/dark purple, 0.5 -2.0 inches long and sit under the gravel.

Your fish are probably to large to be interested in bloodworms. Its like how public aquariums don't worry about putting damsels in with large sharks. Bloodworms are midge fly larvae, and are bright, blood red. Post pics.
