  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
maybe a little salt or melafix. They are fast healers (if they are healthy)

what should i do so he doesnt die from it or something?
thanks in advance

and im working on a bigger tank.
Ok, I am gonna be good and not touch the tank issue ok - but I do expect an udate once you upgrade and hopefully it's soon! OK MR!>!>!:D

About the lips, are they just pinkish - like darker pink, or are we talking, inflamed type, deeper red? Also, when you say "chipped" do mean there is one small portion cleanly severed from the lip, or is it more jagged? Does any part of the lip appear fuzzy, or is any flesh hanging from the mouth (looking sort of like fince lace)? Did this just happen last night, or have the lips looked a little pink for a few days (if you cant remember, thats ok, we can just assume it just happened and work from there). Rest of the body - any bloating, bulges, raised scales, torn fins, blood streaking (under the epithelium), cloudy eyes, erratic behavior, anything??Can you take a picture close up and clear? <--- that's vital.

If it's just the lips, then given time, good water parameters etc., it would heal. Perhaps it would be good to also find out what made it jump so that it doesn't happen again.

i didn't add any meds or anything...time just healed it up
good to hear :D

maybe a little salt or melafix.
i never liked adding salt to fw lol

happened when he was eating or someone spooked him.he spooks easy and freaks out.

thanks for the help.

If the flesh on/around the lips are jagged and hanging, ontop of the red persisting, and it being fuzzy, it sounds to me that you may be dealing with a bad fungal infection. You may have thought it was simply a bump because you just noticed it, but fungal infections can go unnoticed at first, and then rapidly turn serious. My thought is that it could have been present before, slowly creating an absess by a sedondary (poss. internal) infection, which then inturn may have ruptured - giving the appearance of "chipped", and being the cause of the blood. Once it was opened however, the infection grew and has now started to deteriorate the tissues around the mouth (like mouthrot). Without a picture I cannot say for sure, and hopfully it does not look as bad as it sounds right now. Take the picture soon so we can figure it out, and in the meantime, I suggest removing that aro and isolating him in a Q tank, and doing a 40% water change on your main tank and adding some salt to the main tank for precaution while we figure it out. Get on that pic!

Read into it a little more, it can actually help a lot of things (given that the fish can tolerate it, which aros can)

So what ARE your plans for this aro....JW
