Bloody knot on wolf fish tail....

Following up from an earlier question from a forum member. My 4 year old wolf fish has a dark red knot on the end of its tail about 8mm long and 4 mm wide and 4mm deep. Several red streaks are working up the tail to its main body. It has been growing over the last month. Fish seems to have lost its appetite. I will try and add a photo if I can get a good shot. Is there any hope?

I know its hard, I chased my Texas for ages to get a shot and it still wasn't great

Sounds like septicemia. Would move to a qt tank. Add some salt at 1tsp per gallon. Hold feedings for several days. Add some triple sulfa or maracyn2. Post pics and water parameters please.

I am using tetracycline but I am not holding out much hope

Would try something broad spectrum like I mentioned. Reduce stress. Wait it out.
