Blue acara and heros?

Good combo in my experience. The blue acaras I've had aren't as aggressive as the saums/GTs out there, and they didn't get huge. I've kept severums with blue acaras, ports, and keyholes with no problems.
They should ignore Eartheaters but it's still a concern if you want to keep fins intact as they can be quite aggressive fish.
They will get along perfectly fine with Heroines though, very much equal in terms of aggression (though docile Heroines are fine with Eartheaters, I keep them with mine), I've even had a female Severum and Acara spawn together.

My heroines are very docile...they love to frolic with my 2 inch gymnogeo (they're around 4 and 5 inches). I'm hoping to pick out a more peaceful looking acara and possibly another eartheater to complete this stock (which also includes 2 plecos).

should be a good combo but acaras will grab power if the opportunity presents itself and they can be quite the bully, not relentless chasing though. they are ok as long as another fish can keep it in its place. if your heros are already established then you should have mnimal trouble if any at all.
