Hi all, my electric blue acara's spawned a little over a month ago in a community 65 gallon aquarium....I took the fry out after they were free swimming for 2 days and put them in a 10 gallon tank with a subversive power jet filter and was feeding them New Life Spectrum Grow Fry Starter as per guidance from PetLand because I'm new to the aquarium world. Needless to say all my fry died in less than 5 days. Guidance from this community informed me that my filter was too strong and perhaps I should have left the fry in the tank with the parents until they are about an inch long, as they may feed off the slime coat from their parents. I came home last night to free swimming fry in my community aquarium again (less than half the amount I had the first time)....the father was guarding them for dear life and wouldn't even let the mother come near them....this morning I woke up and there were only about 10....now there's none....I think they got stuck in the huge airstone rock that I have in my tank and then were eaten by the other fish....any guidance Pʟɛasɛ....I'm getting very discouraged.

Its good that you have separated then but I feel putting a filter was a bad choice.

Always separate them as soon as you see them otherwise they would be eaten even by their own parents

It is not uncommon for some cichlid parents to eat their first batch. Some get better after but if you decide to pull the fry throw in a seeded sponge in the fry tank . Btw always make sure even a air pump does not create to much current, the tiny fry are very fragile.
