Hey MFK! Havent been on in awhile, but i just got a small pair of blue acara, my favorite fish by far, and by small i mean .75" or so. So i would like to ask what do you all reccomend? As for care, feeding, tankmates, decor, ANYTHING! I just basically want to talk about the species in general. So go ahead and give me your 2 cents on the species.

Thanks guys! :grinno:

I have a bonded pair in a tank I set up for my dad and take care of. I started with 5 at about 2", grew them out, and let a natural pair form, then got rid of the rest. I keep them with peaceful SA species--tetras, corydoras, other SA cichlids (severum, keyholes). They eat NLS pellets exclusively (1mm cichlid formula). I've found them to be peaceful, hardy, easy to pair bond, but so far a bit elusive to actually spawn (working on it).

Be careful you don't actually have a green terror, a common mix up in a LFS.

well my name is GTkeeper! haha ive for sure got some acara, and thanks for the input! looking great btw! is this a recent pic?

I really liked mine, but decided to switch to CA when I got my bigger tank, mine was 4" or so and pretty aggressive actually, especially to my slightly smaller Salvini. What size tank and what other fish will they be with?

Here's my old pair

Pretty easy to care for... peaceful, hardy and personable... Gorgeous breeding dress. Mine ate pellets, krill, worms, crayfish, shrimp, etc. Medium to slow growers...

They can be aggressive when breeding but normally they don't mind other fish. Male was aggressive to female during breeding like most cichlids. Female was very aggressive when the male passed away... I ended up giving her away.
