I don't think I have ever posted pictures of "new fish" before but these guys took a long time to get and are definitely worth posting :)

(sorry for the crappy camera phone pic)

They're tiny now (1.5" max) but I'm hoping for some good growth over the next few months. (7 total)

I have been looking for these guys for a little over a year now in the area and with no luck at all I finally decided to break down and order them from a seller online. I truthfully never thought I'd order a fish through the mail. :screwy:

Now that the process is all over with, I will probably do it for the next fish I want as well; it sure beats searching stores, although I still do plan to frequent many of them.

Anyone else have a similar "breakdown"?

Anyone else raising Blue Acara?

Feel free to post stories/comments/pics, etc.

BTW: I'm not sure if it is okay to endorse a seller from AquaBid on this site but if so: Tampafishman1 treated me right. Paul seems like a very down to earth guy and is great with quick responses, affordable shipping, etc.

I just placed an order for some fish yesterday. The $50 shipping hurt a little bit but I think its worth it to have access to the incredible selection that the internet offers. I used to order from Ken Davis / Fishfarm but he has now dissappeared.

Oh, and your acaras look great. Keep this thread updated as they color up.

Ken now owns a store. He is still active within the ACA.

Well I got my wish, a pair has formed and has just dropped their first set of eggs!!!

Female is on the left, male on the right. (sorry for the blurry cell pic)

Now it's time to move the rest of the gang out. It will be hard but I am going to have to part with 3 of them (probably just give them away).

This pair is getting their current tank re-scaped and they will become my breeders. I am going to move the other female along with a male that I have been calling Minion into my 345. Originally I had only planned to move Minion but having another female around doesn't seem like a bad idea.
