Curious if anyone else has had a cichlid swim rather erratically after a particularly large spawn.
My blue acara pair spawned this afternoon, pretty good size patch. My male however since spawning is behaving normally, but having a hard time keeping his back end level. Hes even still guarding the eggs occasionally.
I dont believe hes ill

I keep and spawn Electric blue Acara.
I do not currently have the normal blue variety.

And on another note apparently I'm going to be overrun by bristlenose plecos in the same tank20200516_233443.jpg little bugger on the whitish tubing

Does it look intentional or is it a buoyancy problem?
From the picture it looks that they are just maintaining the spawn and cleaning/eating infertile eggs.

Side note. Have they spawned before? Usually plecos will eggs at night.
It’s harder to raise a spawn fully with plecos in the tank.

It almost seems bouyancy related. Hes using plants to hold some kind of level
In the first picture shes behind the black rock with the eggs 20200516_235957.jpg20200517_000031.jpg

They spawn about monthly sometimes biweekly if I do big cool changes. I leave a night light on for the acara. But usually it's my oscillated syno that gets the eggs

The male will grab plants or other decorations and shake them as a display to the female.

I would just observe for now.

See if the problem persists or if it’s just part of normal behavior.

If it continues or gets worse to the point he is flipping over on his side or fighting to stay upright you may need to treat.
