Don't they have em at Petsmart?

My LFS gets in blue acaras all of the time and they aren't that rare. Unless you are talking about a different type.

thats a great looking blue acara johno. Is it yours or is that an internet photo?
If it's yours then that is awesome!

There are more then half a dozen fish from North West South America that have been called Blue Acara. The Blue Acara was known by the name Aequidens pulcher. It turns out that the Blue Acaras from Trinidad are the only real A.pulcher and the fish that we know have been moved to different species. There are no exports out of Trinidad, so it is doubtfull that you would find an A.pulcher at your LFS.

I myself have kept A.sp aff pulcher from Venezuela and A.latifrons from Colombia.
The kind from Venezuela is the common aquarium type that you should be able to order from your LFS.

Great info. Reason being is that one of the wholesalers I spoke to mentioned that this particular blue acara that he will be bringing in are very seldom brought into the hobby, but he was sold out when they came in, so I couldn't take a picture of them, and wouldn't know what they are. Are there any differences to look for between the "rare" and the common ones?
