Does anyone have any knowledge of their breeding habits......i bought a pair from my lfs for 20bucks....i have them in a tank divided between them and my red belly piranha......they had 2 tanks full of swimmers from them so how long should it be before i expect some babies.....also do i need anything special besides a smooth rock like most other cichlids for them to lay eggs.......they are on a diet of beefheart supermix....any suggestions would be great

give them some time to adjust to your tank and you . maybe week /month etc. this should be the only for seen problem . do the perameter's of the lfs and your tank match with in reason?? .. also you may have to separte them(divide) so the male does'nt kill the female ,if he decide's to test her again for what ever reason.
I may be crazy but we used to have a breeding pair at the store and I think they might be a mouth brooder...
