We've had 3 Blue Acaras in our tank now for one week. They are swimming around, exploring, etc; however, we are having a devil of a time finding something they will eagerly eat.

So far we've tried, floating pellets, slow sinking pellets, sinking pellets, shrimp pellets, tropical flakes, Cichlid Crisps, Frozen Brine Shrimp and Frozen Bloodworms.

They just let everything fall right past them. I know they HAVE to be eating something (maybe in the middle of the night off the bottom), otherwise they would be dead by now or showing signs of stress.

Is this normal behavior for Acaras?

Only time my EBAs arent begging for food or gorging themselves is when theyre breeding. Do you have a MMF trio by any chance? Could be the males are busy challenging each other and theyre both harassing the one female. But you would notice that kind of behavior i would think.

One week isnt an extremely long time. Cichlids can go for quite a while without eating actually. Could be theyre used to live but those frozen bloodworms should set them off even if they are breeding.

Im thinking youve probably got a good bit of food in your tank and theyre just feeding at their leisure. Hold of on the feedings for a couple days, until they come up to the glass and actually start asking for food. They will do that before they starve.
