Black Arowana: One of my personal favorites this fish is very simmilar to its silver cousin but without the common defects beceause they are all wild caught(as far as I know at least). The downside: These fish are quickly becoming very rare due to the lack of wild numbers to sustain a fishing for them, thus they command a high price and I myself couldnt justify keeping a fish that contributed to the destruction of a majestic species of this caliber. The Verdict:I dont think this is a good fish for any hobbiest to keep untill something is done about their wild status.

What Mistire states is, regrettably, true.

They grow up to 2 feet, are a darker silver hue than silvers..less agressive, but more skittish.

About tank sizes, opinions vary, so please do a search in here.

yeah, they are really beautiful fish. In my opinion a min tank size would be 180 gallons. But foot print is more important than gallons

id say a jardini or asian, but you should still expect up to 30".
True....african arowana's dont look like the typical aro. But are the smallest and are filter feeders and need plenty of attention....they need to be fed twice a day....anyhow, not for me......I like the good ole DE silvers......still purdy in my eyes.;)

they grow up to atleast 40 inches they need really good water quality if you are going to house one you need atleast 350 plus thats my opinon
