I visited a LFS the other day & it had some aros labled as blue arowannas just wondering if anyone has heard of these & if so how much do they usually go for? The store also had jardinis, aprigramma gigas, silvers & leichardti.

Well blues are another name that lfs use for black aro's... They have a wide cost range.. its based on the size of the fish... usually 150 onwards..

blue aro = black aro

for some reason LFS think blue in color is worth more :D

$350-400 is a good price

These didn't look like the black arows I'm used to seeing but didn't look like silvers either I asked if they where hybrids of the 2(seeing as the asian market hybrids a lot of fish including different catfish species) but the guy said no. However they had the black arow shape so based on what you guys are saying I should get them as the were only $150.00 I think. I'll go back there next week & check.

...what everyone else said

btw, the reason they are called black aros is because of their coloration as small juveniles. when they get older, they lose that coloration and the black turns a blue-ish color, hence the "blue arowana" name.

I am still yet to see a black/blue at an LFS here :irked: (not that I could properly house one right now, anyway)

take a pic of it, i willing to see wat ur talking about cuz most likely i think its just a black aro like most members said.
