I checked out a petsmart yesterday and they had all of their betta cups with bluish water. I asked why it was blue and the girl didn't know so she had to go check and then she came back and said that although they didn't sell it, they put methylene blue in there as a preventative medication.

Is that good or bad, or not really doing anything?

p.s. all I know is that i've used methyl blue in lab as an indicator for certain compounds lol

They are shipped in really small bags, so to prevent any infection they medicate the water. It doesn't harm the fish, but they should change the water.

I use mythylene blue to prevent fungus growing on eggs. As soon as they hatch i add carbon to remove it though. I've seen the blue water at other stores too.

thamks for asking thats one of those things i think but dont ask!!!
