I enjoy my blue channel catfish except for he scatters all the food on the bottom and terrizes every single one of my fish.Yeah that should work for a while with a fast crower like a channel its not going to last long.

My channel grows fast and lives with many other catfish including 2 RTC, 2 TSN, 1 RTC x Marble, 1 black bullhead, and a pleco. He is around the 27" mark, and I got him about 1 year 9 months ago. That's almost as fast as my rtc grew. For the tank size it really depends on the footprint of the tank. it can be 4' and only 1' wide. That tank would not last very long. I'd say 6-8 months max if you got him at 1.5 or 2" like I did. If you got a 18" wide tank that would last maybe a year max, and I wouldn't recommend keeping him in a 4' tank at a size larger than 4' x 18" after he's more than 16". I'd actually move him to a larger tank before then. I keep mine in a 350 gal pond, and soon to go in the 4000 gal.

I absolutely love my Channels, I have one blue and two albinos in a native tank at the moment... Mine are not aggressive at all, and I've never seen them harass another fish, and I have them in with two yellow perch a small sterlet sturgeon and a pleco. I would agree with everything necro just said. With a wide tank you could probably have a year with the fish in the tank.
I just bought a 300g tank (6'x30"x30") for my cats until they go in the "pond" (above ground swimming pool at the moment until I can actually build one)
Heres my trio...
