Blue Channel Help

Long story short: My buddy picked up a blue channel cat not
knowing their long term size. At the present time it's approx
10". So he gave hime to me for the time being, as I have a bigger
tank. Now,there is all this fuzzy **** floating in my tank. What is
this stuff?, and how do I get rid of it?, and is it preventable?

If it is what i believe it to be it is his/her slime coat. Catfish often shed it when they are stressed. Let the cat settle in to its new surroundings and he/she will hopefully prosper.
